Overview

In Joomla, you can place and use modules in four different ways.

  1. Position in Header and Footer with App
  2. Position in Blog and Post Sidebar with App
  3. Position in Content with Extension
  4. Custom Position in Content with Extension and Joomla

In this tutorial, you will learn how to 1) add the Position Element to the Article Content with the Nicepage Extension, 2) add a new custom Position in Joomla, and 3) link them together.

Add Position Element

Adding the Position Element to a Block in the Nicepage Extension or Application does not add a custom position in Joomla. You must manually add a custom Position in Joomla and then link it.

  1. Open the Joomla Administrator in your browser.
  2. You should install the Nicepage Extension. For more information, please watch the video.
  3. Add a New Page.
  4. In the Block, add the Position Element.
  5. Click Add -> Position and Shortcode -> Position and Widget Area
  6. Each Position has to have a unique name.
  7. Select the added Position Element.
  8. Enter "nicepage1" to the Existing Position Name field.
  9. IMPORTANT! This new Position does not yet exist in Joomla; you will add it later.
  10. Click Save.
  11. Close the Editor.
  12. Click the Save and Close button.

In the same way, you can add the Position Element in the Nicepage Application, then export and import a Template with the Nicepage Extension and Articles to your Joomla. For more information, please watch the video about the installation of the Joomla Template and Articles.

Custom Position in Joomla

  1. Click Extensions -> Modules.
  2. Add a New Module.
  3. Select the Custom type.
  4. Enter the Title.
  5. Enter the sample content.
  6. Go to the Position field.
  7. Enter "nicepage1" in the Position field.
  8. Press the Enter key.
  9. Click the Save and Close button.
  10. You should see the new row for the new Module and position "nicepage1".
  11. You have added the new custom Joomla Position.

Preview Page

  1. Open the added Page.
  2. Click Content -> Articles.
  3. Open the Page.
  4. Click the Preview Page button.

You should see the sample content added to the Position Module.
